In Spring 2020 with 22 Community Yard Tree Giveaway events planned across the city– the pandemic forced us to call off all in-person events. Over the course of two months, with the feedback from community partners, sister programs from around the country and safety guidelines from the City of Philadelphia we developed an adapted model of tree distribution. TreePhilly administered an adapted hybrid model for tree distribution that included: Two contactless tree pick-up events,138 door-to-door deliveries, and Community partner delivery grants. The pilot program was a success with 306 trees being delivered for residential planting. We could not have accomplished this without our amazing community partners.
