Host a Yard Tree Giveaway

Host a free yard tree giveaway by becoming a community partner. Community partners work with TreePhilly to host giveaway events each spring and fall.

The Community Yard Tree Giveaway program empowers Philadelphia nonprofits to green their neighborhood! Through this program, community groups partner with us to host tree giveaway events in their neighborhoods. TreePhilly provides FREE trees, event support, mulch, education, and a $200-500 grant award. Partners are responsible for hosting and promoting the event and connecting with their community.

We release the Community Yard Tree Giveaway Grant application in January and August each year. Check out our blog to see the most recent application instructions and deadline.

How does my group become a Community Partner?

Is your group interested in our Community Yard Tree Giveaway Program? Apply through our grant application, available before each fall and spring giveaway season. We accept applications each January for the following spring and each August for the following fall. Any group that serves Philadelphians on a not-for-profit basis is a potential partner. Groups are also welcome to apply together on joint applications. For example, the neighborhood CDC could partner with a local business association. To apply for the Grant, community partners must have an organization with 501(c)(3) status as a fiscal sponsor. If your group does not have 501(c)(3) status, you can partner with another group that does to host a giveaway.

Grant applications are updated each season. To receive the grant application each season, email treephilly@phila.gov with your name and contact info, as well as your groups name and info.
You may also follow us on Twitter, Facebook, or Instagram to be one of the first to find out when we release the grant.

Fall 2020 Grants

In Fall 2020 TreePhilly continued with the hybrid home-delivery and no-contact pick-up event model piloted in Spring 2020. The design allowed our community partnerships to deepen while also distributing as many trees as possible within COVID .Philadelphians planted 977 yard trees, TreePhilly and our partners increased accessibility by delivering 614 trees directly to the doorsteps of residents with limited mobility and higher risk for serious illness from COVID-19 and 48.5% of trees went to areas of higher priority for environmental justice! We could not have accomplished this without our amazing community partners. The following groups hosted their own yard tree giveaways through our Community Yard Tree Giveaway program.
