    4. Rachael

What vAriety of trees will there be?

    5. Temwa Wright

Is there a give away in the West Philadelphia area? I would like to advertise to my neighbors.

      • treephilly

        Hey Temwa,

John Heinz National Wildlife Refuge and partners, and Parkside Association of Philadelphia are both hosting their own tree giveaways in their communities this season. Please contact them for registration information.

        Thanks

    6. Chris K

Is it true you have to plant 2 American Hazelnuts to get fruit ? I didn’t see that and only selected 1.

      • treephilly

        Chris,

Corylus americana (American hazelnut) can produce fruit with only one tree, but prefers two for a heavier fruit set. Feel free to register for a second tree or contact us if you’d like to change your selection! Treephilly@phila.gov.

        Thanks

    7. Patty

Any Hawthorns or Crabapples? Are these the only available small trees for spring picking?

      Pagoda Dogwood (Cornus alternifolia)
      Cornelian Cherry (Cornus mas)
      Apple Serviceberry (Amelanchier x grandifolia)
      American Hazelnut (Corylus americana)
      Staghorn Sumac (Rhus typhina)

      • treephilly

        Hey Patty,

We are not giving away hawthorns or crabapples this season (spring 2016), but there are now a few more trees to choose from on the registration form. Take a look!

        Thanks.

    8. DEE GRUBIN

I’D LIKE A YARD TREE. I TRIED TO SEE WHEN I CAN GET ONE AT HEINZ, BUT I DON’T SEE IT ON THEIR WEBSITE, OR ON YOURS. CAN YOU HELP?
ALSO IS THERE ANY SITE IN OR NEAR WEST PHILLY?

      • treephilly

        Hey Dee,

John Heinz National Wildlife Refuge and their partners are accepting registrations now for their event, please contact them to sign up. Parkside Association of Philadelphia is also hosting a giveaway in West Philly, but they have not yet opened registration.

        Thanks!

    9. Scott

I see one of the requirements is “I will plant my tree in Philadelphia.” Is this within actual city limits or surrounding suburbs? I am in cheltenham township. Thanks.

      • treephilly

        Hi Scott,
Thanks for reaching out to us to clarify before registering. Trees must be planted within the city limits of Philadelphia. Sorry!

    10. Constance

I live in the Olney area and I would like to plant a small fruit tree in my back yard.. What tree would you suggest, and would the Cornelian Cherry fit a yard larger than the length of a 4×4 car? Thanks

    11. John

I registered for Harrowgate TD Bank event, but noticed that most trees are out of stock. Any chance of more deliveries? The tree I prefer for my yard is out of stock.

      John

      • treephilly

        Hi John,

Yes, the program has been very popular this spring and we only have honeylocust trees left for pre-registration. However, if you come to the end of the event we will be giving away any leftover trees that people did not claim. You could change to a different species at that time, depending on availability.

        Thanks!

    12. kelly

It appears all of the events are out of stock for everything except for the honey locust, is this accurate?

      • treephilly

        Kelly,

Yes, this is accurate, we are thrilled that there is so much demand for trees this spring! At the end of each event we will be giving away any leftover trees that people did not claim. You are welcome to come then to see what is available.

        Thanks!
