Philadelphians EngagedGet Involved
Launched in response to Mayor Nutter’s Greenworks goal to make sure each Philadelphia neighborhood has at least 30% tree canopy coverage, we help locals connect with the resources they need to plant and care for their own urban forests. We’re clean. We’re green. And by helping Philadelphians plant and maintain trees on both public and private property, we hope to make the city landscape better for generations to come. Have a yard? Get a free tree! TreePhilly gives out over 1,000 free trees for Philadelphians to plant on private property each spring and fall. This innovative initiative—our flagship program—was launched in 2012 in partnership with the Fairmount Park Conservancy.Learn More
Philadelphia Parks & Recreation has planted and maintained street trees in the city for over 100 years! Today, TreePhilly helps to facilitate that process by working with residents and partnering with local community groups. Planted in sidewalks and other public rights-of-way, street trees beautify neighborhoods and bring communities together. Request yours today!Learn More
Our seasonal maintenance crew works hard to beautify our neighborhood parks, playgrounds, and recreation centers. The team prunes trees, removes invasive species, and assists with special projects at Parks & Rec facilities across the city. The TreeKeepers program also offers a pipeline to green careers by providing on-the-job training and education to crew members, some of whom are ex-offenders.Learn More
