Fall 2023 Yard Tree Giveaways

Yard Tree Giveaways for the fall 2023 season have ended. Please join our mailing list here or leave a voicemail at 215-683-0217 to be notified this spring!

What is TreePhilly? TreePhilly is a joint program of Philadelphia Parks and Recreation and the Fairmount Park Conservancy that empowers Philadelphia community members to enrich life in their neighborhoods through the planting, care of and connection with trees. Founded in 2011, we work to reverse the city’s unequal and declining tree canopy by providing free, accessible yard trees and nurturing relationships between neighbors, institutions and the land we live on. In all our work, we strive to follow the principles and practices of environmental justice.

Trees are available for Philadelphia residents only and must be planted in the ground (not in a pot) on private property in the city of Philadelphia. If you are looking to have a tree planted on the street (in the spot between the sidewalk and street), click here to sign up for a free street tree!

How to Register for Free Yard Tree
Find a regional or neighborhood event below and follow the link or contact the community partner listed to register for your tree. Neighborhood events are intended for residents of the areas around the event and may have restrictions on who can sign up. We will contact you the week before the event to confirm your request and provide additional details on how to pick up your tree.

Need Delivery or Planting Assistance?
Delivery: Due to very limited capacity, delivery service is reserved for residents without access to a vehicle. If you have a car but can’t make it to the event, please try again next season.
Planting Assistance: If you are physically unable to plant your tree, we will arrange for your tree to be delivered and planted in your yard. We are only able to plant trees for community members who are physically unable to plant their own tree. Planting involves lifting a ~20lb pot (about the weight of a toddler), digging a small hole the size of a 5 gallon bucket and kneeling over to fill the hole by hand. Everyone receiving a tree will receive instructions on how to plant, plus an optional planting demonstration at pick-up events.
