TreePhilly is the Community Forestry program of Philadelphia Parks & Recreation. We empower Philadelphia community members to enrich life in their neighborhoods through the planting, care of and connection with trees. Founded in 2011, TreePhilly works to plant and care for an equitable tree canopy for all residents by providing free, accessible educational and material resources as well as nurturing relationships between neighbors, institutions and the land we live on. In all our work, we strive to follow the principles and practices of environmental justice.
Trees are available for Philadelphia residents only and must be planted in the ground (not in a pot) on private property in the city of Philadelphia. If you are looking to have a tree planted on the street (in the spot between the sidewalk and street),

How to Register for Free Yard Tree
Find the most convenient event below and follow the link to register for your tree. We will contact you the week before the event to confirm your request and provide additional details on how to pick up your tree.
Need Delivery or Planting Assistance?
Delivery: Due to very limited capacity, delivery service is reserved for residents without access to a vehicle. If you have a car but can’t make it to the event, please try again next season.
Planting Assistance: If you are physically unable to plant your tree, we will arrange for your tree to be delivered and planted in your yard. We are only able to plant trees for community members who are physically unable to plant their own tree. Planting involves lifting a ~20lb pot (about the weight of a toddler), digging a small hole the size of a 5 gallon bucket and kneeling over to fill the hole by hand. Everyone receiving a tree will receive instructions on how to plant.
