Land Steward Field Training @ The Schuylkill Center for Environmental Education

The Schuylkill River Center is offering an intensive Land Steward Field Training for passionate environmental stewards. This workshop will focus on sustainable land management as it relates to urban forest ecosystems, and will involve plant identification, health assessment, and care of native trees and shrubs. The day will involve plenty of hands-on work along the 10 acres of forested trail through Penn’s Native Acres.

With completion of the Land Steward Field Training workday session, participants become certified Trail Team Members and receive a Schuylkill Center Trail Team t-shirt.

This spring there are four chances for you to plant a tree that you can enjoy for years to come! Choose from 12 different trees, including large shade trees, small flowering trees, and fruit trees. Learn more about the trees that we’re giving away this season here. Pre-registration is encouraged, but walk-ins will be accepted during each event, while supplies last. At each event you will learn how to plant and care for your new tree, and you will take it home with free mulch.

This spring there are four chances for you to plant a tree that you can enjoy for years to come! Choose from 12 different trees, including large shade trees, small flowering trees, and fruit trees. Learn more about the trees that we’re giving away this season here. Pre-registration is encouraged, but walk-ins will be accepted during each event, while supplies last. At each event you will learn how to plant and care for your new tree, and you will take it home with free mulch.

Neighbors of Germantown’s Fernhill Park are invited to help us kick off LOVE Your Park Week with a special Signature Site Event! Hosted by Fairmount Park Conservancy, Philadelphia Parks & Recreation, and the Friends of Fernhill Park.

Register for a tree here. Enter your address, and under “promotion,” select “large trees-pickup.” Follow instructions to choose a recommended tree, and enjoy discovering what energy savings you can get from a beautiful tree!

The event will also include volunteer projects, family activities, visits from VIP guests, and special message from Mayor Jim Kenney!

Light refreshments will be provided. Registration is on a sliding scale from $0 to $25. Pay what you can. Registration is required.

Workshop will also be available on June 14 and July 12.
